(NEES) Natural Energy Efficiency and Sustainability
Priority: 2. Sustainable development of natural and community resources
Objective: i. Environment as an asset in the periphery
Theme: Renewable energy, eco products
Estimated Budget : 0
Synopsis:

The NEES Project aims to bring together private and public house builders, sustainable architects, architectural schools, environmental engineers, developers of ecological building materials, energy assessors and others concerned with etrofit of existing buildings and small scale RES integration in buildings.

The aim is a search and dissemination of best practise in retrofit of existing buildings on the basis of natural building materials and technologies in all areas, inlcluding oof and wall insulation, windows, heating and cooling and ventilation, as well as integrated construted wetlands for water treatment.

The project will am at developing a comprehensive framework for the identification, development and application of natural retrofit technologies and examples, and their dissemination through study visits, practical events and an on-line potal.  number of practical projects will be identified that can be progessed in different regons during the project life.

The intregration of appropriate renewable sources of energy will be included, but the emphasis will be on low technology and the use of local materials, within a framework of maximsing enrgy efficiency.je ct

The project aims to promote a substantial increase in energy effieciency based on the use of natural materials and locally developed skills, with a net benefit to the environment and the local economy.

Aim & Objectives:

The NEES Project aims to promote energy efficiencyorms in existing hoems, but also to reduce pollution of waterways through the introduction on natural technologies for water treatment. Use of local materials and diversification wll also be promoted throiugh this approach. In doing this NEEP seeks to ernative to a new dependence on expensive, imported high-technology and materilas.

Expected Outcome:

A practical catalogue of environmental technologis based on natual materials and processes, which can be applied locally to retrofit of existing buildings, in order to improve hteir energy and environmental performance. The best practice wll be disseminated through local and trans-national events, practical demonstrations and an on-line portal, and  reflected in a number of local demonstrations that wll be carried out during the project life. Also, a network of practicioners promoting natural retrofit of buildings.
