WARES aims to achieve long-term viable public-private renewable energy enterprise within at least 9 sites in the Northern Periphery Region using the unexploited assets of water companies in the region. The project aims to work with the water companies in each region to establish a partnership and then test the viability of renewable energy, identify the optimum technology (which may not necessarily be water) for exploiting the available energy, plan and implement the business opportunity. Each region has operational water companies with assets that are unused or underused for the production of renewable energy. The project aims to make these available through the creation of renewable energy PPP’s linking the water companies to the technology providers and the communities. This will being economic benefits and job creation to the partner regions through a new and replicable model that can be scaled up throughout each region in the NPP area, which will be particularly applicable to the style and characteristics of the resilient communities that populate the NPP area. This will bring lasting benefits and improvements to the economic circumstances of the region.
