The project will develop and implement an ICT-service that supports entrepreneurs/ SMEs in the NP area, which are dependent on nature-based resources to generate environmentally and economically sustainable business opportunities in tourism. The end users are primarily entrepreneurs and SMEs in the NP area, who wish to generate tourism business out of nature based and cultural resources at their disposal; special landscapes and features, areas of interesting biodiversity and folklore, archaeological and historical features, and places with an interesting mix of traditional and modern customs and practices.
The aim of the potential main project is to produce an innovative, transboundary e-service to help and support community individuals and organisations located in remote and peripheral fragile environments, to meet the environmental, ecological and economic challenges involved in sustainable tourism development. The end user will be enabled to analyse the potential or existing tourism site in terms of existing planning restrictions, conservation designations, marketability using statistics regarding visitor flows and numbers to the region, intrinsic interest and heritage value through ICT provision of clustered environmental and socio-economic data specific to that site. The service aims at helping to determine which management actions would benefit the site in terms of environmental, economic and social impacts and to develop a business plan to access potential incentive schemes.
