Nature and adventure tourism is a quickly growing business in many rural areas within the Northern periphery area. These areas attract tourist because of the areas nature, beauty and low population density. For transport and the climate change this is a problem as with increasing number of visitors there are increasing numbers of private cars on the roads as public communication and transports often are poor and distances are long. The project aims at achieving sustainable transport solutions, both environmentally but also economically viable, for these areas.
The project aims at achieving practical and long term solutions for transport services in at least three areas in the Northern Periphery where rural tourism is an important and growing part of the business community.

The services to be developed in the project are:
Transport of long distance visitors to and from the areas comfortably and also giving value for money compared to a private car even though it will in many cases include changes of transport modes
Transport of visitors within the areas and between adjacent areas/villages in an eco friendly way using well planned cooperating public and private commercial transports, bio fuel rental cars etc. Transports of goods by for example new ways of shared transports, transport planning etc New service possibilities in the area of transports for visitors
