Central for the idea of the project is that the creative industries will grow and be one of the future's industries globally, and in the NPP area as well. With this project, we want to strengthen the positive development that occurs in the NPP area.
The creative industries are permanently in need of new ideas, methods and new labour in order to continue to grow. The young people that live in the area today constitute the recruitment basis for the established industry concurrently that it gives the opportunity to implementation of new methods, processes and ideas from the young.
One of the cornerstones is to create meetings between the established and the youth and also to develop platforms where possible.
It´s very important that correct conditions are provided in order to live and to work in areas that are sparsely populated with long distances and harsh climates. In northern Europe there is a unique cultural heritage to build on, and a desire to preserve and to develop permanent modern key signatures.
The risk in the peripheral regions is that the creative industries lose people unless an environment that fits employees within creative industries continues to be developed in a good way. It is also important to achieve a critical mass of people within the industry so they can work within the northern periphery, as well as acheiving a critical mass of companies and activities (today many move to big cities such as Stockholm, London, Dublin and Helsinki) even though the NPP-area today has a creative environment and creates possibilities for employee within creative industries to work despite the fact they don’t always make a lot of money.
The possibility of that “export”, the creative services or the products do enable the creation of a bigger market basis even what the inhabitants in the NPP-area can contribute with. An important stage in this endeavor is to increase employability of creative students at creative companies and that these as well are expected in contexts where they can sell products and services (eg. on infrastructural events, film festivals etc).
