The project aims to develop a system that will make renewable energy storage feasible at a community level allowing rural communities to use the energy in the community and even aim for grid independence. The basic concept is to dynamically match the price of electricity with the quantity generated. For example, when it is very windy, the electricity is very cheap, or free; when there is no wind and energy is drawn from storage and the electricity is more expensive. By making this information available to the consumers, they are encouraged to modify they consumption behaviour, but they are also encouraged to install a local mechanism to store energy when it is cheap. The storage requirement on the generation side is then minimal.
