The project idea is to create employment, socialisation and health improvement opportunities  for hard-to-reach groups living within remote and rural communities. This will be achieved through the creation of a particular form of social enterprise – the Rural Community Shed.

For the hard-to-reach sections of the populations in remote and rural areas of the NPP region, the project’s objectives are to help create:

• Opportunities to increase physical activity levels;
• Activities that help to improve or sustain mental health and overall feelings of wellbeing;
• Opportunities to decrease social isolation;
• Opportunities for work and/or skills creation and sharing.

The Sheds will be set up in a way that appeals to people who have previously been largely absent in volunteering, community activities and or workability programs.
